from all of the TRYBE team
Yom Kippur is called Shabbat of all Shabbats
a day set apart
The High Holiest of Days
The rituals inspire us to live like angels~
To express the transcendent nature of the day we dress in white
To lessen attachment to our material selves we practice fasting
(alternatives can be juice or liquid fasts, or a guided cleanse)
To turn our focus inward we do not adorn with fine cosmetics or food wear
~
These rituals act to attune our spirit towards the mystery
To reconnect to our reverence for life
To return to our essential selves
To acknowledge when we have abandoned our hearts or those of others
To ask forgiveness, and most importantly, to forgive, beginning with ourselves
Allowing ourselves compassion so to allow others compassion
~
Allowing ourselves to lay down the heavy burden of the past, and return free, to who we were born to be
At the days close we are not solemn, at the days close the ritual is to feast
We celebrate, we eat, we drink, we dance
Free of the stories, grudges and hang ups that block the beauty of living
There is no greater joy than the lightness of pure being
